MP3: More Than a Mouthful

This No Land's Band track was recorded live a few months ago at home. It's long, percussive and drone-y. It was built up as an improvisation around the percussion and feedback loops. I hope you enjoy!

In Case You Didn't Know

The Unnatural Helpers will be releasing a 7-inch as a part of the newly refangled Sub Pop Singles Club. The songs come from the session that they did with Phil Ek about year ago and are really great.

Here's the tracklisting:
  1. "Dirty, Dumb & Comical"
    "Connecting"
  2. "Break That Horse"
    "The Easy Way Out"

The single will be third in the series (October) after Om (August) and Mika Miko (September). Yes, that's 4 songs.

I have this all on very good authority.

Upcoming Coolouts Shows

Somewhat amazingly, the Coconut Coolouts are currently only booked for two shows through the end of August. During this upcoming lag in our much-loved stage antics we hope to put paid to some long overdue studio time.

The plan is to record the "Nerd Holocaust" single ("Nerd Holocaust" b/w "Messed up Man") and what we hope to be our second long player, which I'm tentatively calling Hot Nights in the Banana Hammock. This is to protest the fact that we didn't use that name on our last one. Recording is to be done in the new Malabar Studios with the legendary Rainbow Rags manning the board. Wish us luck.

Here are the summer's remaining live dates:

After that, you may not see us until fall.

JP at the Mariners game!

I was fortunate to be on hand as Sub Pop magnate Jonathan Poneman threw the first pitch at the Mariner's game last night. Our head publicist managed to set this up as part of our 20th anniversary hummalabooble. Although no cannonballer, our pal and grunge-boss managed to put the ball over the plate. In the air, even. Possibly ironically, the Mariners lost in 15 after running out of pitchers.

American Cake Bomb

The smoking thing at center is a cake. After about 30 seconds of fuse it exploded all over everyone. Happy 4th of July. Thanks to Zack for hosting such a thorough gaggle of vagrants!
